Basketball Title Point Totals

Do all World Championships matter? Yes. Do some matter more than others? Yes. Is recency the determining factor? Yes: Knick fans can cling to 1970 and 1973 all they want, but the iconic status of those two does not change the fact that the titles won in 1971 by the Milwaukee Bucks and 1974 by the Boston Celtics mean more.

The 1st NBA Championship was in 1947, and its winners get 1 point. The 1948 winners get 2, and so on. Moving a team starts the count all over again, but Laker fans didn't need the 5. Minneapolis titles.
