Saw this on Twitter last night: "Dang, I can't believe Aaron Boone is going to be the one to win multiple World Series Championships with the New York Yankees."
Well, Joe Girardi was never going to be the one to do it.
Is it really so hard to believe that Brian Cashman got the guy he wanted?
Instead of the guy we wanted? Whether Andrew Miller, Justin Verlander, or Carlos Beltran?
The burden is on Cashman now. If the Yankees don't win the 2018 World Series, the failure is all his.
As long as Boone doesn't make the same mistakes as Joe Girardi -- adhering to a pitch count, not taking out a pitcher who is clearly not tired, bringing in a lefty who can't get anybody out to get a lefty out -- then he gets a pass for this season.
Still... Boone?
He has no managerial experience.
And while it will tick Red Sox fans off, having Bucky Dent as manager didn't help much.
Still, it's not Girardi, and that is an automatic improvement.
We shall see.
