Can Cashman's "Dream Team" also be ours?

For years now, Brian Cashman has tried to build the Yankees with the philosophy of bombing the other team out of the yard, and have been just enough pitching to go along with that and get the win.

This season, it looks like his dream season is finally coming true. Most Yankee Fans don't care how it's done, as long as it gets done. The problem is, since 2009, it hasn't been getting done.

Now, maybe it is. The Yankees opened the 2nd game of their 4-game series away to the Chicago White Sox in grand fashion, scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning, including another Giancarlo Stanton home run; and 3 runs in the 2nd. The South Siders were already finished: It was Friday the 13th for them, not for us. Aaron Judge added another home run in the 4th, Joey Gallo another in the 5th, Josh Donaldson another in the 9th.

I suppose it would have been overkill for Gerrit Cole to pitch like the best pitcher in baseball. He didn't have to. And he didn't. He did well enough, going 6 1/3rd innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and just 1 walk, striking out 9. Michael King went the rest of the way.

Yankees 10, White Sox 4. WP: Cole (3-0). No save. LP: Vince Velasquez (2-3). The Yankees are now 24-8, a .750, 122-win pace. They remain 4 1/2 games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East.

The series continues tonight at Guaranteed Rate Field. Jordan Montgomery starts against former Houston nemesis Dallas Keuchel. I once demanded that Cashman acquire him. That time, he was right, and I was wrong. But he is still a long way from redemption here. Can Cashman's "Dream Team" also be ours? Stay tuned.

Today is also the FA Cup Final, England's Super Bowl, between two teams that are not Arsenal. Will I watch? Maybe.
