A Little Housecleaning for This Blog

Since August 9, 2019, the 45th Anniversary of President Nixon's resignation, I've run a "Scores On This Historic Day" feature on this blog. Since January 1 of this year, I've run a "Top 10 (today's date) Birthdays" feature.

These additions have resulted in far more posts than I'm used to making. I've decided to make a separate blog for Scores On This Historic Day. It can be accessed via this link. I may end up doing the same for Top 10 Birthdays.

As a result, my post of October 26, 2021, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of one of the more special Yankee World Series wins, will no longer be, as it is at the time of this writing, the 5,000th post in the history of this blog. I will have to retroactively renumber them, possibly adjusting an already-written post to reflect it as the milestone post.

Days until the 1st Baseball Hall of Fame election for which Alex Rodriguez and David Ortiz will be eligible, and we will know for sure whether known steroid use keeps a player out, or if it's only been a Yankee who's accused of it that does: 2, this Tuesday, the announcement being made at 6:00 PM.

Hours until the next game of the U.S. National Soccer Team: 4, this coming Thursday night at 7:00, a CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier against El Salvador, at Lower.com Field, the new home of MLS' Columbus Crew. 

Days until the next Winter Olympics open in Beijing, China: 12, on Friday, February 4, 2022. Under 2 weeks.

Days until the next Arsenal game: 18, on Thursday, February 10, at 2:45 PM New York time, away to Birmingham-area team Wolverhampton Wanderers, a.k.a. Wolves. Today, they could only manage a 0-0 draw at home to the bottom team in the League, Lancashire side Burnley, blowing a chance to go Top 4. They weren't in Europe at all this season. And now, they're out of both domestic cups -- hence the delay, as this coming weekend is the 4th Round of the FA Cup. So a European place (Top 6, Champions League place if Top 4) is all they can now play for.

Days until the next North London Derby: Unknown. It was supposed to be last Sunday, January 16, at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but was postponed due to COVID protocols, and has not yet been rescheduled.

Days until the next New York Red Bulls game: 34, on Saturday, February 26, 2022, away to the San Jose Sharks. Under 5 weeks.

Days until the New Jersey Devils again play a local rival: 40, on Friday, March 4, against the New York Rangers, at Madison Square Garden.

Days until the Yankees play another game that counts: 67, on March 31, 2022, away to the Texas Rangers. Under 10 weeks.

Days until the Red Bulls again play a nearby rival: 69, on Saturday, April 2, 2022, away to the New England Revolution.

Days until the Yankees' home opener: 74, on Thursday, April 7, 2022, against the Boston Red Sox. Under 11 weeks.

Days until the next Rutgers University football game: 223, on Saturday, September 3, 2022, away to Boston College. Under 8 months.

Days until the next East Brunswick High School football game: 229, on Friday, September 9, 2022, against arch-rival Old Bridge. Under 8 months. Hopefully, our home field, under renovation through the entire 2021 season, will be ready, so we don't have to go back to the purple pit.

Days until the next Rutgers-Penn State football game: 307, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 26, at 12:00 noon, at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. A little over 10 months.

Days until the next Women's World Cup opens: 533, on Friday, July 10, 2023, jointly held in the neighboring nations of Australia and New Zealand. Under a year and a half.

Days until the next Summer Olympic Games: 915, on Friday, July 26, 2024, in Paris, France. A shade over 2 and a half years.

Days until the next Presidential election: 1,017, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Under 3 years.

Days until the next elections for Governor of New Jersey and Mayor of New York City: 1,381, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Under 4 years.
