Alanis Sings the Anthem?

Alanis Morissette sings "The Star-Spangled Banner" before Game 5 of the World Series?

Uh, Phillies, you, you, you oughta know: She's from Canada. In fact, she's from Ontario (Ottawa), the Province that is home to the Toronto Blue Jays. You remember, Phillies? The team that stunned you in the 1993 World Series?

On top of that, the American attempt to invade Canada in the War of 1812 led to disaster, nearly the loss of our country, and inspired a sense of nationalism in that land that ultimately led to their own independence -- without a war of revolution being necessary.

In fact, her current Wikipedia photo is of her singing the National Anthems, both "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "O, Canada," at the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals at the Ottawa Senators' arena. (The Senators, as you might expect, lost, to the Anaheim Ducks in 5 games.)

Alanis sings the U.S. National Anthem? Isn't it ironic?

Game 5 begins now. And what it all comes down to is that I haven't got it figured out just yet. 'Cause I've got one hand on this keyboard, and the other hand in my mouth where I'm chewing my nails.

27 for 27. Let's Go Yankees! Let's do this tonight!
