Yankee Bats Go Silent, Lose to Phillies

No team goes winless for an entire season. The Philadelphia Phillies entered last night's game at Yankee Stadium at 0-4, including having lost to the Yankees the previous night.

Domingo Germán started for the Yankees, and he had nothing. On his 2nd pitch of the game, he gave up a home run to Kyle Schwarber. In the 3rd inning, he gave up another homer, to Brandon Marsh.

He allowed 2 more runners in the 5th inning, and was replaced by Michael King, who let them score.

The Yankee bats were silent for the 1st 8 innings. With 1 out in the bottom of the 9th, DJ LeMahieu hit a home run. Aaron Judge drew a walk, giving hope for a comeback. Gleyber Torres flew out, but Giancarlo Stanton singled. That brought Josh Donaldson to the plate as the tying run. But he popped up to 1st base.

Phillies 4, Yankees 1. WP: Andrew Bellatti (1-0). No save. LP: Germán (0-1).

The series continues this afternoon. Gerrit Cole is scheduled to start against Aaron Nola.
