American League teams from New York: 40 Pennants
National League teams from New York: 34 Pennants

So, even combined, the National League can't top the Yankees.

Since 1968: Yankees 11, Mets 5
Since 1986: Yankees 7, Mets 2
Since 2000: Yankees 3, Mets 1

And, of course, 2000 World Series: Yankees 4, Mets 1, Yankees clinch at Shea Stadium.

Just in case you Flushing Heathen are feeling cocky at the moment, just because you won one of the least-resisted Pennants ever.

You will NEVER catch up.

You're not even the best team in New York this year. Aside from that one moment by Chase Utley, the Yankees were the only team that stood up to you all season long, and we took 4 out of 6, partly thanks to a starting rotation NONE of your guys could crack.

You'll never be as good as the Yankees. Not even now.
