The Yankees took the rubber game of their series with those Pesky Blue Jays of Toronto (I think I should make that their official UMM name), 5-2.
Mark Teixeira sent his 7th "Teix Message" in the bottom of the 1st inning, to send the Yankees to a 1-0 lead. But the Jays scored single runs off Ivan Nova (2-2) in the 2nd and 3rd, and held that lead until the 5th.
But the Yankees scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th, 3 of them on the 8th home run of the season by Curtis Granderson. Thankfully, I was not listening on the radio, to hear John Sterling yell, "Curtis, you're something sort of grandish! The Grandy Man can!"
That 5-2 lead held because Nova settled down, David Robertson and Boone Logan each got an out in the 7th, Rafael Soriano pitched a scoreless 8th, and Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless 9th for his 10th save. Jesse Litsch (2-2) got the loss for the Jays.
So the Yankees took 2 out of 3 from the Pesky Blue Jays, and now, as a reward, they get to go to Detroit. Ha ha. I'll have "How to Be a Yankee Fan in Detroit" later.
Jeter 2949 51
Rivera 569 32
A-Rod 618 145
Magic Number 134 (to eliminate O's, 133 for Rays, 131 for Scum and Jays)
