Bad last 24 hours. First the Yankees lose to the Rangers -- who, like all Rangers, suck.
Then, the Red Bulls take a 4th-minute goal from Thierry Henry, and then park the bus and let the Los Angeles Galaxy tie it up at the end of the 1st half, and spend the 2nd half playing for a tie, and get it, 1-1. A draw on the road against the 1st-place team in the other conference is not sufficient when you can get the win. And, as Herman Edwards taught us, "You play to win the game!"
Now Arsenal lose to Stoke, which is like losing to The Situation on Jeopardy!
Oy vey.

Neither starter did well. The Rangers scored 5 runs in the 1st 2 innings off Bartolo, who went back to being a Semi-Colon. But the Yankees struck back with 4 runs in the 3rd, knocking out Texas starter Matt Holland, and then tied it in the 6th, on a home run by Nick Swisher, his 2nd of the season. Things were looking up -- and not just the Swishalicious home run.
But Boone Logan (1-2) couldn't hold the tie, and the Rangers scored 2 off him in the bottom of the 6th to forge the final score of 7-5.
This time, even the pitching of Arthur Rhodes couldn't help the Yankees. When you start losing games in which Arthur Rhodes is the winning pitcher (1-1, Neftali Feliz getting his 6th save), that's a sign that all is not well in Yankeeland.
This is 4 losses in the last 5 games, and now the Yankees are tied for 1st place in the AL East with the Tampa Bay Rays -- although still one game ahead of the Strays in the All-Important Loss Column.
CC Sabathia starts the series finale this afternoon, 2:05 Eastern Time, against Dave Bush -- no relation to the idiot who not only once owned the Rangers, but let Osama bin Laden get away and then decided, "I truly am not that concerned about him."

Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers pitched his second career no-hitter yesterday, against the Toronto Blue Jays. Good for him. Personally, I'm not in good enough of a mood to be happy for him.

Jeter 2955 45
Rivera 571 30
A-Rod 618 145
Magic Number 130 (to eliminate Rays, 126 for Scum, 125 for O's and Jays)
